Our Story
Mom Ain’t Happy Race Team was built from passion, determination, and a love for offshore powerboat racing. What started as a drive to compete has grown into a team, a brand, and a loyal community.
Our Origin
Scott Blumberg’s path into offshore racing was built over years of high-performance boating alongside his father, Denny. Together, they owned several high-performance pleasure boats, including two catamaran hulls, long before Scott ever considered making the jump into Super Stock racing.
Scott first made his mark at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, later competing in a handful of bracket Class 2 races with his pleasure boat. What started as casual competition quickly fueled a desire for more structured racing and higher performance.
The Mom Ain’t Happy name has deep family roots. Scott and Denny’s first boat was appropriately named Mom Don’t Know, as Scott’s mother, Maureen, wasn’t informed of the purchase until it was already too late. Their second boat—a 2017 Doug Wright catamaran—was fittingly named Mom Ain’t Happy, as Maureen never cared for the speeds the boat was capable of. Tragically, Denny passed away before that boat was completed, but the family went on to enjoy it for five years before selling it to step into a canopy-equipped version that would ultimately become today’s Super Stock Mom Ain’t Happy race boat.
Originally, Scott purchased the former Allen Lawn Care and Landscaping Super Stock catamaran with plans to use it primarily for poker runs and a few select races. But once he got a taste of true offshore competition, there was no turning back.
Scott soon joined forces with his current driver, Tom Kennedy, a seasoned offshore racer with extensive Super Stock experience and numerous Lake of the Ozarks Shootout appearances. Together, they committed fully to building a competitive Super Stock program.
When it came time to name the race team, the decision was immediate—Mom Ain’t Happy Motorsports was the only option. The name honors family, history, and the journey that brought the team from pleasure boating to professional offshore racing.
What began as a passion shared between a father and son has evolved into a dedicated race team with strong roots, meaningful legacy, and an exciting future ahead.
